Description

This Christmas Crack Recipe (Saltine Toffee) is the ultimate salty–sweet holiday treat made with crisp crackers, buttery toffee, melted chocolate, and festive sprinkles. Perfect for gifting, parties, and easy holiday baking!

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional Toppings

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes

  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt

  • Holiday sprinkles

  • Toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a 10×15-inch rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment, leaving overhang for easy removal.

  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, breaking pieces to fill gaps.

  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and bring to a full rolling boil. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

  4. Immediately pour the hot toffee over crackers and spread evenly.

  5. Bake for 5 minutes, until bubbling.

  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then spread evenly.

  7. Add toppings of choice while chocolate is still warm.

  8. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until fully set.

  9. Lift the slab from the pan and break or cut into pieces.

Notes

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate can be substituted for semi-sweet.

Store Christmas Crack in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Freezes well for up to 3 months.

For nut-free version, skip nuts and use sprinkles or candy canes for crunch
