Ingredients

  • 12 Ronzoni lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Boil Ronzoni lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the meat sauce: In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Mix the ricotta filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, and ½ cup mozzarella.
  5. Assemble the lasagna:
    • Spread 1 cup of meat sauce at the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Layer 3 noodles over the sauce.
    • Spread ⅓ of the ricotta mixture over noodles, then add ¼ of the mozzarella cheese.
    • Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with sauce and mozzarella on top.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm!
