Ingredients

Red Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 (24-ounce) jars spaghetti sauce

Pasta:

  • 16 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon salt (for boiling water)

Alfredo Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onion and bell pepper until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, cook until browned, and drain grease. Stir in salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and spaghetti sauce. Simmer briefly.
  4. Cook spaghetti in salted water according to package instructions. Drain.
  5. In another pan, melt butter. Add garlic, then stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Whisk in heavy cream until smooth. Return to heat and stir in parmesan until melted.
  7. Toss cooked pasta with Alfredo sauce until fully coated.
  8. Spread pasta into baking dish. Top with meat sauce (do not mix layers).
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella over the top.
  10. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use freshly grated cheese for the best melt and flavor.

Add red pepper flakes for a little heat.

Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated before baking.

Leftovers reheat best with a splash of milk to keep creamy.
