Description

This Warm and Gooey Snickerdoodle Cobbler Recipe is a cozy cinnamon dessert with a soft buttery topping and a rich caramel-like sauce that forms while baking. Inspired by classic snickerdoodle cookies, this easy cobbler combines warm cinnamon sugar flavors with a fluffy cake-like texture. Perfect for family desserts, holidays, or weeknight treats, it tastes incredible served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cobbler Base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Sugar Layer

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

  • 1 ½ cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

  2. Prepare the dry ingredients. In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Mix the wet ingredients. In another bowl combine melted butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.

  4. Make the batter. Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

  5. Spread the batter. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

  6. Prepare the cinnamon sugar topping. In a small bowl mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  7. Add the topping. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter.

  8. Pour hot water over the cobbler. Carefully pour the hot water over the entire dish. Do not stir.

  9. Bake the cobbler. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

  10. Cool slightly before serving. Let the cobbler rest for about 10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not stir after adding the hot water. This step creates the gooey caramel sauce underneath the cobbler.

Fresh cinnamon gives the best flavor.

The cobbler tastes best when served warm.

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
