Description
Fresh Blender Salsa with Fresh Tomatoes made with ripe tomatoes, cilantro, onion, garlic, and lime juice. This easy 10-minute salsa delivers restaurant-style flavor and is perfect for chips, tacos, quesadillas, and more.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5–6 fresh tomatoes, cored and seeded
- 1/3 bunch fresh cilantro (about 1/3 cup loosely packed)
- 1/4 cup red onion and/or sweet onion
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch granulated sugar
Instructions
- Wash the tomatoes, remove the cores, and cut them into quarters. Gently remove the seeds and watery membrane.
- Cut the onion into 1-inch chunks.
- Roughly chop the cilantro.
- Add tomatoes, cilantro, onion, garlic, lime juice, salt, and sugar to a blender.
- Pulse 5–10 times until the salsa reaches a restaurant-style consistency that is slightly chunky but not pureed.
- Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for 2–3 hours before serving.
- Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and grilled meats.
Notes
For a spicier salsa, add 1–2 jalapeños before blending.
Roasting the tomatoes first creates a deeper, richer flavor.
Use about 20 ounces of drained canned tomatoes if fresh tomatoes are unavailable.
Adjust salt and lime juice to taste after chilling.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
