Description

Cheddar Bay Hamburger Casserole is a rich, cheesy comfort dish made with seasoned ground beef, a creamy sauce, and topped with buttery, garlicky biscuit goodness. Perfect for easy weeknight dinners the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Filling:

  • lbs ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

For the Topping:

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 box Cheddar Bay biscuit mix
  • ¾ cup cold milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth and creamy.
  5. Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. In a bowl, prepare the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix with cold milk according to package directions.
  8. Spoon biscuit dough evenly over the casserole.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and brush over the hot biscuit topping.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery.
  • Don’t overmix the biscuit dough—this keeps the topping light and fluffy.
  • If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes.
