  • Yield: 2 cups (about 8 servings) 1x
  • Diet: Low Fat

Description

This Healthy Tzatziki Sauce is creamy, refreshing, and packed with Mediterranean flavor. Made with Greek yogurt, cucumber, fresh dill, lemon, and garlic, this easy 10-minute dip is perfect for veggies, pita bread, wraps, bowls, and grilled meats. It’s high in protein, meal-prep friendly, and delicious as a healthy snack or sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (nonfat, low-fat, or full-fat)
  • 1/2 English cucumber, seeds removed and diced small
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 1 clove)
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the diced cucumber in a strainer over a bowl and sprinkle lightly with salt. Let it sit for a few minutes to release excess moisture, then pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt, cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, dill, salt, and black pepper to a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Stir until everything is well combined and creamy.
  4. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with extra dill, black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
  5. Serve chilled with pita chips, naan, fresh vegetables, wraps, or grilled meats.

Notes

For the thickest texture, don’t skip salting and draining the cucumber.

English cucumbers work best because they contain fewer seeds and less water.

Fresh dill, lemon juice, and lemon zest provide the brightest flavor.

Add 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint or 1/2 teaspoon za’atar for extra Mediterranean flavor.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

The flavor becomes even better after chilling for 30 minutes before serving.
