Description
Juicy Lemon Basil Chicken simmered in a creamy, zesty lemon garlic sauce with fresh basil—an easy 30-minute dinner bursting with fresh flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pound chicken breast
- 2 tbsp butter (divided)
- 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 ½ tsp lemon zest
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt remaining butter. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Whisk in flour until smooth and lightly golden.
- Slowly pour in chicken stock and lemon juice while stirring to create a smooth sauce.
- Stir in lemon zest and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return chicken to the skillet and simmer until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
- Sprinkle with fresh basil, adjust seasoning, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh lemon juice and basil for the best flavor.
- If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of chicken stock.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for extra juiciness.
- Serve with pasta, rice, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
