Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter (divided)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup full-fat sour cream
- Fresh chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Slice chicken breasts in half lengthwise to create 4 thinner pieces. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (165°F). Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining butter and sliced onions. Sauté for 10–15 minutes until soft and lightly browned.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Scrape up browned bits from the pan.
- Stir in sour cream until smooth. Heat gently without boiling.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over top, and simmer briefly.
- Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use full-fat sour cream for the creamiest texture.
- Keep heat low when adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
- Chicken thighs can be used for extra juiciness.
- Great served with mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.
