Ingredients
Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pita Pizzas
6 flatbreads or pita breads
2 cups cooked chicken, chopped
1 1/2 cups sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 1/2 cups baby spinach leaves, torn
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat: Preheat the oven or air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease baking sheets if using the oven.
2. Prepare the Garlic Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, chicken broth, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and heated through.
3. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together flour and water until smooth. Slowly add the slurry to the saucepan, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm.
4. Assemble the Pizzas: Place pita breads on a clean surface. Spread approximately 3 tablespoons of garlic Parmesan sauce over each pita.
5. Add Toppings: Top each pita with 1/3 cup cooked chicken, 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, 1/4 cup spinach, and 1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.
6. Oven Method: Arrange pizzas on greased baking sheets. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the pizzas are heated through.
7. Air Fryer Method: Place one pita pizza in the air fryer basket. Cook at 350°F for 5–6 minutes, or until the mozzarella melts. Repeat with remaining pizzas.
8. Serve: Allow the pizzas to cool slightly, slice, and serve warm with the remaining creamy garlic sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
Notes
Chicken Options: Use cooked rotisserie chicken, grilled chicken, or leftover roasted chicken for convenience.
Crispier Crust: Lightly toast the pita breads before adding the toppings.
Sun-Dried Tomatoes: Drain oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes thoroughly to prevent soggy pizzas.
Cheese Options: Substitute provolone or fontina for part of the mozzarella.
Make Ahead: Prepare the garlic sauce and toppings up to 24 hours in advance. Store separately in the refrigerator.
Storage: Refrigerate leftover pizzas in airtight containers for up to 3–4 days.
Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5–8 minutes or in the air fryer at 325°F for 3–5 minutes, until thoroughly heated.
Extra Flavor: Add crushed red pepper flakes, fresh basil, or sautéed mushrooms.
