Description

This Viral Asian Cucumber Salad TikTok Recipe is crisp, spicy, refreshing, and packed with bold sesame garlic flavor. Ready in just minutes, this easy cucumber salad makes the perfect light side dish for busy weeknights, rice bowls, BBQs, or Asian-inspired dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cucumbers
  • 3 teaspoons granulated white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 2 to 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1½ tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons chili oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 3 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Gather all the ingredients.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sugar, sesame seeds, crushed garlic, and chopped green onion.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  4. Cut both ends off each cucumber. Place the cucumber between chopsticks to avoid slicing all the way through.
  5. Make diagonal cuts along one side of the cucumber. Flip it over and make straight cuts on the opposite side to create the spiral effect.
  6. Repeat with all cucumbers.
  7. Place cucumbers in a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Massage gently and let sit for 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. Rinse thoroughly under cold water and pat dry.
  9. Pour the dressing over the cucumbers and toss well.
  10. Serve immediately or chill for 10 minutes before serving for even better flavor.

Notes

Salting the cucumbers helps remove excess moisture and keeps them crunchy.

Rinse the cucumbers very well after salting to avoid an overly salty salad.

For extra flavor, let the salad marinate in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.

Adjust the chili oil depending on your spice preference.

Best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 4 days.
